Collecting has become a trend
There is no doubt that collectable items are a real growth area in the leisure sector. Favoured collectables include stamps, coins, paper money and telephone cards, along with related accessories.
This important market sector alone can boast an annual turnover of around €1 billion: and the trend is growing. In contrast with other collectable items, stamps, coins and telephone cards can also be seen as solid objects of investment, sometimes even offering a high return.
PROPHILA GmbH was set up in 1985 to make these collectable items readily available by using innovative concepts (useful even for the most advanced collectors) outside of the traditional sales channels used by the sector: these new areas were specialist shops, zoos, department and retail stores, and also more recently the internet.
